Reasons why "living by what you love" and "living with excitement" are not working at all—the blunt conclusion that success principles depend on compatibility

The structure everyone should know first if they don't know what they want to do

"Live with excitement," "Live doing what you love" – these were phrases that flooded society for a time.

However, in reality, there are many people who try it and it doesn't work at all. Am I stupid? Is it incompatible? Only a few followers seem happy, but what about the others? These kinds of questions, though unheard, surely exist. To conclude: all success principles in the world are about compatibility. It's not your fault.

Why did "living with excitement" become popular?

First, let's organize the premise. The society before "living with excitement" became popular was an era where people were defined by their family lineage, region, religion, war, and high economic growth. It was an era where people were means to an end.

From there, it entered an era of individual success (ventures), where winners and losers were mass-produced. As a counter to this, concepts like "living with excitement" and "living doing what you love" emerged. This is a slogan for the transition to an era where humans become the purpose. This was noticed as a new philosophy. However, what is philosophically correct and what anyone can practice are entirely different matters.

The blunt truth: "The law of success is compatibility."

Almost all success principles discussed in the world are based on hindsight. Effort-based, intuition-based, coercive, calculative/logical, thought-stopping, luck-based—the communicators are simply stating the success patterns they have experienced. This isn't necessarily wrong. In fact, it's precisely because they have the courage to assert their views that they become charismatic. The problem is that no one talks about the possibility that these success patterns might not align with your own attributes.

President type, investor type, manager type, talent type, behind-the-scenes type, sales type - everyone has their own style. There are those who are precise and suited for large corporations, and those who do everything in a venture. There are NPO types, medical/welfare types, and entertainment types, each with their own arena. The reason "living with excitement" doesn't work isn't because you lack ability. It's possible it's simply a mismatch between your attributes and the success pattern you've chosen.

To those who don't know what they want to do: Excitement is a “criterion,” not something to “do.”

I want to clear up a misunderstanding here. Saying "just do what excites you" is a simplistic interpretation. Excitement isn't the action itself; it's a criterion for judgment. It's about having the observational skill to notice what resonates with your heart and using that resonance to guide your choices.

And to continue feeling excited, you need to do things other than just chasing excitement. Building a foundation, earning money, maintaining relationships, and protecting your health – it's only with these fundamentals in place that excitement becomes a viable option. To live a life of excitement, you must also handle things that aren't exciting. Success principles are a story that comes after that.
