The way to eliminate anxiety about the future is not to stop thinking about the future, but to change the "structure of time."
Many people who ask how to eliminate anxiety frame it as a matter of personal emotion. However, this question only truly takes shape when viewed as part of a higher-level structure—a general principle of how observers handle indeterminate information.

This is not about personal feelings, but about the general structure of "observer and uncertain information."
Anxiety is not a fragility inherent to specific individuals, but a phenomenon intrinsic to the act of observation itself.
As long as anxiety is treated as a "weakness of character," this problem cannot be solved. Anxiety is not a psychological malfunction that occurs in a specific individual, but rather a phenomenon that is structurally generated when virtually any observer encounters uncertain information.
It's not limited to humans. Statistical models and decision-making systems also encounter the same structural pressure when dealing with uncertain future information. That is, the pressure to process uncertain information as if it were certain.
The "Future" from the Perspective of Extended Imaginary Theory: The Structure of Z = D + iD
If we reframe this phenomenon as a more abstract structure, we can write it as follows:
Z = D + iD
D is the real dimension—the realm already observed, determined, and fixed as reality. The past, events that have already occurred, unchangeable outcomes.
The iD is a virtual dimension—a realm that hasn't been observed or confirmed yet, existing only as a possibility.
Anxiety can be described as a structural friction that arises when consciousness mistakenly attempts to process the future, which inherently belongs to the realm of the "id" (as in "indefinite"), using the grammar of "D" (as in "definite"). It's the mismatch that occurs when we try to treat information that isn't yet fixed as if it were already determined—this discrepancy manifests as the feeling of anxiety.
Why does consciousness want to turn iD into D?
Maintaining uncertainty is costly for any information processing system.
Why would consciousness bother trying to force a future that remains in a virtual dimension into the grammar of a real dimension? The reason is that maintaining an uncertain state is computationally expensive. A state where possibilities coexist requires holding multiple scenarios simultaneously. This is cognitively demanding.
On the other hand, if you fix it on one point and say, "This has already been decided," the computational cost dramatically decreases at that moment. Even if that one point is the worst-case scenario, for consciousness, it's lighter than "the burden of uncertainty."
In other words, anxiety can be said to be a structural cost that arises when consciousness hastily tries to descend from the high-cost state of the "virtual dimension" to the low-cost state of the "real dimension."
"Changing the structure of time" is cultivating the power to keep self-identity as it is.
Confirmation and direction are operations on entirely different planes.
Many people try to solve the problem of "erasing anxiety about the future" with the idea of "securing the future at a good point." However, this is merely rewriting the content within D, using the same grammar of D. The dimension itself has not changed at all.
The only operation truly needed is not to convert iD to D. It is to keep iD as iD—without finalizing it—while giving only a general direction to the whole.
Confirming content and providing direction are operations of different dimensions. The former is an operation that crushes the imaginary dimension into the real dimension, while the latter is an operation that treats the imaginary dimension as the imaginary dimension.
The true meaning of "changing the structure of time"
The anxiety doesn't disappear; the very design of the dimension changes.
The true meaning of the phrase "changing the structure of time" is here. It's not about newly determining a "good future" within real dimensions. It's about changing the very design of consciousness so that the imaginary dimension can be lived as the imaginary dimension.
When viewed from this perspective, I realized that the very way of posing the question "how to eliminate anxiety" was still trapped in a real-dimensional mindset. What needs to be eliminated is not the emotion of anxiety itself. It is a habit of consciousness—the way dimensions are handled—that tries to prematurely solidify the uncertain.
