I've talked about this a few times in the media, but this time I want to delve deeper into "contradictions." Even with just the word "contradiction," people's reactions when faced with one are completely different.
Some people immediately reject one or the other, some endure suffering while persevering, and some acknowledge both and find coexistence. And very rarely, there are those who create something entirely new from contradiction. And some evolve through contradiction.
Is this difference a matter of personality or ability?
Neither. It's a matter of "stages."
There are clear stages of evolution in how to deal with contradictions.
Cut it off, endure it, or coexist with it?
In the initial stage, it is recognized that contradictions should not be acknowledged. Since it is something that is scrupulously avoided and a source of discomfort, there is no other option but to deny it. Therefore, it is immediately discarded. Black and white are distinguished. The correct answer is sought. People at this stage tend to categorize the world as "enemy or ally" or "right or wrong." This judgment itself becomes their aesthetic and a measure of their self-worth.
In the next stage, you can endure contradictions. However, "enduring" means there is still suffering. Patient and serious people tend to stay in this stage longer. Then, that endurance can suddenly reach its limit one day.
Beyond that, there is a stage where contradictions can be acknowledged as "both are correct." The capacity expands. Balance is achieved. However, energy is not yet born there. It is calm, but there is no explosive power. It is merely a state where negative emotions are minimized.
Rotate contradictions and create something new from them.
The paradoxical truth that evolution increases as contradictions increase.
This is where it gets really interesting.
The stage of beginning to rotate contradictions. The stage of creating something that didn't exist before from contradictions. And the stage where contradictions themselves become one's identity.
Ultimately, the more contradictions there are, the more evolution occurs — reaching a state that is abnormal from a common-sense perspective.
From a normal perspective, "a life with fewer contradictions" seems ideal. A life that is simple, without hesitation, and unwavering. However, this might actually be a state where growth has stopped.
All structures from 0 to 6 stages exist.
Rejection, endurance, acceptance, rotation, emergence, core, transcendence
What stage am I in now? What is the key to the next stage?
You don't have to run from contradictions. You don't have to suffer from them.
Rewriting your relationship with conflict from the ground up can change how you see life. What you thought was suffering can become fuel, and what you thought was weakness can become a source of strength.
The relationship with contradiction lies at the core of human evolution.
