Cut the good stuff──The concept of active severance

Cut the good stuff──The concept of active severance

Monday morning, I open my calendar. Every single plan on it is one I put there myself.

A dinner party I was invited to and glad to attend. A study group I have kept up for three years. Work I am asked to do because I am good at it. A monthly report to someone who has helped me.

There isn't a single thing I dislike.

Yet, I just can't seem to move on to the next stage.

At times like this, people try to look for things they dislike. If they are going to cut down, they start with what they hate.

But it's the other way around. I've already cut away the things I hate. Everything that's left is good.

And it's the good things that hold people back.

It's working, so it won't disconnect.

"Katsudan" refers to the act of intentionally severing ties or thoughts that limit oneself.

What is overlooked here is what is limiting you. It is not failure. It is success.

What works, continues. Because it continues, it is expected. Because it is expected, it cannot be dropped. Leaving a study group that has gone on for three years is far harder than quitting a hobby you gave up after three days.

Look at the kanji for "live" (活). It is an active operation: cutting in order to live.

Therefore, the target is not something dead. It is something alive. Dead ties fall away on their own without needing to be cut. The only things that need to be cut are those that are still moving.

Because there are five serious axes, it scatters

Purity is determined by which coordinate axis consciousness is most aligned with.

With just one axis, all effort goes toward it. If there are five, it's divided into fifths. And since every axis is a good one, you can't slack off. You face them all with full seriousness, and every single one becomes a fifth.

Speaking of intrinsic function theory, it's the decluttering of functions. The goal lies in energy efficiency. Reducing terms. That's all.

So adding to it doesn't increase the purity. You can only increase it by subtracting.

According to the theory of future origin, deciding what not to do is the most powerful way to create time. Decisive cutting is the application of that exact structure to interpersonal relationships and thinking habits.

Don't wait for it to come off naturally.

There is also a phenomenon where the internal order rearranges itself. When the environment changes and one's perspective rises, priorities naturally shift. This is called function rearrangement. Function rearrangement just happens.

A live break is different. It's an intentional excision. It's something you cause.

I will crush it beforehand. There is the counterargument that we can wait. But good things don't end on their own from the other side. Because they are functioning. Bad things naturally cut ties. Good things, you have no choice but to cut off yourself.

Thought-bound—even regarding the thought frameworks that bind oneself, many people have the order reversed. They think: I'll cut them loose once I'm convinced, or I'll cut them loose once I'm prepared.

No. Cutting it removes the frame. Active severance is the most direct means to release bound thought. Understanding does not come first. Excision comes first.

It is easier to do this during a slump because no one asks why. When things are going well, it is impossible to explain cutting good things. So your hands stop, the work piles up, and it simply turns into gravity.

The question isn't what you dislike. It's what you like, and yet still don't want.
